Felicia Williams, born in
Camden, Arkansas developed her creative abilities at a young age when she
would make her own paper dolls and make their clothing. She and her girl
friends would often draw dolls and make up stories about them.
This lead to a more serious interest as she got
older from literally designing and making clothes for her dolls and
styling their hair to a degree in Fashion Merchandising at the University
of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
During her
studies in college she developed skills in fashion illustration, free hand
drawing and sketching where her shading techniques were refined. Many of
her drawings were showcased in the Home Economics Department.
Although she’s
had some formal training in drawing she still accounts her abilities to
bringing art to life with feeling and emotion as a gift from God. Her
inspiration came during a brief recovery period after having major
surgery. Felicia states, “I was so inspired and had so many ideas and
creativity bursting to get out, I developed over 100 paintings in a year.”
“I would wake up in the middle of the night sketching and even sometimes
going to my board and easel until daybreak.” “It was as if I was in a
trance and once the work was completed I would be in awe at what
God allowed me to see, feel and portray on canvas!”
Her work will remind you of
days when you could count on a good home-cooked meal after a hard days
work like Making Biscuits or Shelling Peas while her
picturesque view of the ocean in Peaceful Shores takes you to
another view of how life should be.
Her desire to
paint is encouraged by family and friends as well as Susan Taylor of
Essence Magazine who has a personal painting of Sanctified Lady’s
in her New York office.
She prays that
God will continue to bless her in utilizing her talent in a way that will
make others happy. |
